UHMWPE Versus HDPE

There is a big difference between Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene and High Density Polyethylene. UHMWPE is much much harder and scratch resistant and more expensive and has a much lower coefficient of friction. It is the closest manmade product to actual real ice. In addition to the extra cost as compared to HDPE it also requires extensive polishing at the completion of the manufacturing cycle.
